Terms & Booking
Last updated: September 2026
These terms explain what to expect when you book a service with Smudge & Ting. Please read them before making a booking.
Smudge & Ting is the trading name of Carolyn Swann.
About the service
Smudge & Ting provides remote Personal Energy Clearing and House Healing services.
My approach is practical and intuitive. I will explain what I find and the work I carry out as clearly as possible, but individual experiences vary and no particular result or outcome can be guaranteed.
Personal Energy Clearing
A Personal Energy Clearing normally takes around half a day.
The work is carried out remotely, so you do not need to attend a video call or be available throughout the clearing unless we have specifically agreed otherwise.
House Healing
A House Healing normally takes a full day and involves a more extensive assessment of the home, land and the people living there.
Before your House Healing, I will ask you to provide:
- the names of everyone who lives at the property
- a floor plan of the home
- any other information I reasonably need to carry out the clearing
Photographs can be helpful but are not essential.
I will also send you preparation guidance before your House Healing.
Consent of other people
I will not carry out Personal Energy Clearing for another adult without their knowledge and consent.
Where a House Healing involves Personal Energy Clearing for adults living at the property, their consent must be obtained before that part of the work can be carried out.
You are responsible for ensuring that information you provide about other people is accurate and that you have appropriate permission to provide it.
Bookings and payment
The price shown on the website or booking page at the time you book is the price that applies to your booking.
Your booking is confirmed once any required payment has been made and you have received confirmation.
I normally book only one clearing per day so that your clearing receives my full attention.
Your 14-day cancellation right
If you are a consumer booking online or otherwise at a distance, you will normally have a legal right to cancel the contract within 14 days without giving a reason.
For a service contract, the cancellation period normally starts when the contract is made and lasts for 14 days.
Nothing in these terms removes or limits your statutory consumer rights.
If your clearing takes place within the 14-day cancellation period
If your clearing is due to take place before the 14-day cancellation period has ended, I may ask you to expressly request that I begin providing the service during that period.
If you expressly request that the service begins during the cancellation period and then cancel after work has started, you may be required to pay a reasonable and proportionate amount for the work already provided.
If the service has been fully completed during the cancellation period, your statutory right to cancel can end once the service has been fully performed, provided that you expressly requested early performance and acknowledged that your cancellation right would end when the service was completed.
Changing your booking
Life happens.
If you need to change your booking, please contact me as soon as you can.
I will always do my best to rearrange your clearing to another suitable date where reasonably possible.
Cancelling your booking
If rearranging is not reasonably possible and you need to cancel, please contact me as soon as possible.
Where you have a statutory right to cancel, that right takes priority over the cancellation arrangements below.
Outside your statutory cancellation rights, if cancellation means I have already carried out preparation work or I am unable reasonably to refill the appointment, I may retain up to 25% of the booking price to cover the genuine loss caused by the cancellation.
The 25% is a maximum, not an automatic cancellation charge.
If my actual loss is lower, or I am able to refill your appointment, the amount retained will be reduced accordingly.
I will take reasonable steps to minimise any loss caused by a cancellation.
Any amount retained will be proportionate to the circumstances and will not exceed the genuine loss reasonably incurred as a result of the cancellation. Current consumer guidance warns against excessive cancellation charges or automatically keeping advance payments regardless of actual loss.
Refunds following statutory cancellation
Where you validly exercise a statutory cancellation right, any refund due will be made without undue delay and normally within 14 days of you informing me of your decision to cancel.
Where you expressly asked me to begin providing the service during the cancellation period, I may deduct a proportionate amount for services already provided where the law allows this.
If I need to rearrange or cancel
Very occasionally, illness, emergencies or circumstances outside my reasonable control may mean that I need to rearrange your clearing.
If this happens, I will contact you as soon as reasonably possible and offer another suitable date.
If I am unable to provide the service and we cannot agree an alternative date, I will refund the amount you have paid for any service that has not been provided.
What Energy Clearing and House Healing are, and are not
Energy Clearing and House Healing are complementary wellbeing services.
They are not a substitute for medical, psychological, psychiatric, legal, financial or other appropriately qualified professional advice, diagnosis or treatment.
I do not diagnose medical or mental health conditions.
If you are concerned about your physical or mental health, you should seek advice from an appropriately qualified healthcare professional.
Nothing in these terms affects your statutory right to receive services carried out with reasonable care and skill.
Results
People experience energy clearing in different ways.
Some people notice changes quickly, some notice more subtle changes over time, and others may experience things differently.
Although I will carry out the work with reasonable care and skill, I cannot promise or guarantee a particular result, outcome or change in your circumstances.
Your decisions following a clearing remain your own responsibility.
Reports and follow-up
Where your service includes a written report, I will provide information about what I found and the work carried out.
You are welcome to contact me with reasonable questions about your clearing afterwards.
The report reflects my observations and the work undertaken as part of the service. It should not be treated as medical, psychological or other professional advice.
Your responsibilities
Please provide the information I reasonably request before your clearing and let me know if anything relevant changes before the booking date.
For a House Healing, this includes providing a suitable floor plan and the names of the people living at the property.
If information or required consent is not provided in time for me to carry out the service properly, we may need to rearrange the booking.
Problems or complaints
If you have a concern about your booking or the service you have received, please contact me first.
I would much rather have the opportunity to understand what has happened and try to resolve it with you.
Nothing in these terms affects any legal rights or remedies available to you as a consumer.
Your personal information
I use the personal information you provide to administer your booking and provide the service you have requested.
For more information about how I collect, use and protect personal information, please see my Privacy Policy:
Changes to these terms
I may update these terms occasionally, for example if my services, prices or booking processes change.
The terms that apply to your booking are the terms in place when you make that booking.

Cancellation form
You do not have to use this form. You can simply email me with a clear statement that you wish to cancel.
If you prefer to use a form, you can use the wording below.

I hereby give notice that I wish to cancel my contract for the following service:
Service booked: __________________________________
Date booked: _____________________________________

Address: _________________________________________
Email address: ___________________________________
Date: ____________________________________________
You can send your cancellation to carolyn@smudgeandting.com.
One practical thing remains after you publish this: if someone can book a clearing less than 14 days away, we should add the required early-start acknowledgement to the booking process. The regulations require an express request if you start providing a service during the cancellation period, so simply having the wording buried in the Terms is not the strongest setup.
But for now, this is the complete copy for the page.
